Zoped, pronounced [zoh-ped], stands for the Zone of Proximal Development. Zoped is a development theory established by a psychologist, Lev Vygotsky, in the early 20th century. He developed Zoped as a means to explain how individuals can unlock their true potential by working with adults or capable peers to accomplish a particular task. According to Vygotsky, in his own words, the Zone of Proximal Development is –
“the distance between the actual developmental level as determined by independent problem solving and the level of potential development as determined through problem solving under adult guidance, or in collaboration with more capable peers.”
– L.S. Vygotsky: Mind in Society: Development of Higher Psychological Processes, p. 86
Zoped Academy aims to utilize the theory of the Zone of Proximal Development to provide students with an opportunity to see the world and to have an unforgettable experience of personal growth while learning the leadership qualities necessary for becoming a global citizen. There is often a gap between what one reads in a book or online and what is actually happening on the other side of the world. Our goal is to bridge the gap between knowledge and experience by offering programs that will help the participants achieve their full career potential. Zoped Academy presents students with an opportunity to grow, live, and have fun as they undergo new adventures and experiences.
